[VIDeo TUTorial] Command Prompt TIPS



1. Change the background's color
Right click on Menu bar > Select Properties > Colors > Screen Background and Screen text, Popup Text, Popup Background > Select color > Press OK > Select "Modify shortcut that started this window" > Press OK
TIPS: In this Option, you can see the value of each color. If you choose Red, RGB (Red, Green, Blue)=255,0,0; Yellow=255,255,0

2. Change the Command Prompt's Font
Right click on Menu bar > Select Properties > Font > Select Size for your font.

3. Change the Command Prompt's Options
Right click on Menu bar > Select Properties > Options > Select to check "Quick Edit Mode" & "Insert Mode". With these selections, you can Copy & Paste between Windows & Command mode.

E.x1: You have a long & deep path on Windows (D:\setup\UseNeXT\alt.binaries.sounds.audiobooks), You can paste that path to Command Prompt mode: Press Right mouse (Or Right click to Command Prompt menu > Edit > Paste).

E.x2: Copy everything from Command Prompt to Office
Right click to Command Prompt menu > Edit > Mark > Hold your left mouse and scan to all words that you want to copy > Press Enter button (or click Right mouse) > Paste to your Notepad or Wordpad.

4. Use TAB button for faster speed
On command mode, you can use TAB button like an "Automatic suggestion robot": Enable your filename without typing.
E.x: In your D:\Setup folder have 2 files start with r letter (rs_p.txt and rs_link.txt). Normaly, if you want to edit rs_link.txt you must type EDIT RS_LINK.TXT. But, when you use TAB button, you can do: EDIT R[TAB][Enter] (Type EDIT R > Press TAB > Press Enter)

5. Change your PROMPT
Before: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>
After: k3lvinmitnick.blogspot.com:\>
How to: Type Prompt k3lvinmitnick.blogspot.com :\$G
Note: This Prompt options will come back to default whenever you exit Command.

6. Other Options
+ Export results to a file: Type your command include > word.
E.x: dir d: /w >file1.txt
+ Clear The Screen: Type cls

7. Run from Command Prompt

Ipconfig --Displays IP configuration for all network adapters

Logoff -- Used to logoff the computer

MMC --Microsoft Management Console

Msconfig --Configuration to edit startup files

Mstsc -- Used to access remote desktop

Mrc -- Malicious Software Removal Tool

Msinfo32 --Microsoft System Information Utility

Nbtstat --Displays stats and current connections using NetBIOS over TCP/IP

Ping --Sends data to a specified host/IP
